PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing system by which an electronic file of user desired application formats can be suitably acquired, regardless of existence of an electronic file corresponding to the original, an image processor and an image processing method therefor. SOLUTION: While specifying the application format, the image processing system acquires image information by reading the original and identifies the electronic file corresponding to the original out of the electronic files held by a server. Further, the system converts acquired image information into character codes and vector data, or converts it into a prescribed image format. When the electronic file corresponding to the original can be identified, whether it is the specified format or not is checked. Here, when the electronic file is not identified, or it is checked not the relevant format, the data obtained by conversion is selectively output and when it is checked to be the relevant format, the relevant electronic file is selectively output.
