PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem that there is a possibility of causing swerving at the start of travel to ruin the pavement surface in a conventional traveling drive device for a paving machine with a plurality of hydraulic motors driven by one hydraulic pump. SOLUTION: A controller 71 puts an oil pressure absorption quantity switching solenoid of tilt regulators 72a, 72b for a motor into an excited state so that oil pressure detected by a hydraulic sensor 5 is a fixed value or more at the travel start of an asphalt finisher 1. The supply quantity of pressure oil to a cylinder 36a of a tilt angle changing device 36 is thereby increased to extend a piston 36b to reduce the tilt angle of an inclined face 32a to the axis of a driving shaft 31. As a result, the pressure oil absorption quantities of the hydraulic motors 3a, 3b are reduced, and the pressure of pressure oil is kept to the fixed value or more to uniformly drive rear driving wheels 15a, 15b.
