<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To estimate coil temperature of a brushless DC motor, without causing cost increase. <P>SOLUTION: The resistance of the coil of the brushless DC motor is calculated with motor current and motor voltage, and the coil temperature is estimated using the resistance temperature characteristics of the coil. This may include a method for calculating the coil resistance with a duty difference and a current difference, using a plurality of duties. A rotor position is detected, an inductance is calculated from the position, and the coil temperature calculated from the coil resistance is corrected by making it correspond to the inductance. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
