<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust gas cleaning catalyst having excellent heat durability and resistance to sulfur poisoning by keeping the catalytic activity of Pt particles in the satisfactory state. <P>SOLUTION: In the exhaust gas cleaning catalyst, a coating layer which contains a multiple oxide between cerium oxide and an oxide of metal for stabilizing the cerium oxide and a non-cerium containing oxide is formed on a substrate and platinum particles are carried thereon. The multiple oxide has a pore volume of 0.1 cc/g or more and the platinum particles are selectively adsorbed on electron acceptor points on the multiple oxide. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
