<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rapid and precise fingerprint recognition system, and a system (algorithm) usable with another system (algorithm). <P>SOLUTION: This system comprises a binarizing means for converting fingerprint information inputted from a fingerprint sensor 2 for recognizing a fingerprint to a binary value based on a predetermined threshold; a characteristic information extraction means for extracting characteristic information from the fingerprint information converted by the binarizing means; a characteristic information storage means for storing the characteristic information extracted by the characteristic information extraction means; a multiple-valuing means for multiple-valuing the characteristic information stored in the characteristic information storage means; and a collation means for collating the fingerprint information inputted from the fingerprint sensor for collation with the characteristic information multiple-valued by the multiple-valuing means to perform an individual authentication. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
