PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a soft stretch yarn settled conventional problems of strong tight feeling and roughing/hardening of fabrics and capable of giving fabrics having more excellent soft stretch properties than conventionals, to provide a method for producing the yarn, and to provide a fabric. SOLUTION: The soft stretch yarn is a side-by-side conjugate yarn or an eccentric sheath-core conjugate yarn each comprising two types of polyesters, wherein polybutylene terephthalate forms the inside of crimping and the yarn satisfies, at the same time,≤2.0% Uster irregularity,≤30×10<SP>-3</SP>cN/dtex stress at 50% fiber elongation and≥60% recovery factor.
