PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a windshield capable of eliminating any dead angle in the right-to-left direction forward of a driver's seat of an automobile. SOLUTION: The windshield for the automobile has the prismatic thickness on right and left end portions. Both end portions (1) of the windshield have the thickness of the prism shape (2), and the thickness is increased toward both ends. An apex angle (4) of the assumed prism (3) is sufficiently 10-15°at the driver's seat side, and 5-10°at a passenger seat side, respectively, while depending on the material of glass. The visibility is improved by the optical refraction effect by the glass of the prism shape, and the dead angle by both side frames is eliminated. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
