A method of producing a display unit-use color filter provided on a substrate thereof with a plurality of pixels each consisting of a reflection layer and a color layer, the method comprising the steps of forming a partition for partitioning each pixel- disposed pixel area, forming a reflection layer in each pixel area by discharging a first liquid material by a droplet discharging method, and forming a color layer in each pixel area, whereby it is possible to produce a color filter in a short time, with a low energy and at low costs without requiring a complicated process such as a photolithography process.
