A coated part comprises a substrate and a coating layer (layer A) over the substrate comprising a first polymeric material which consists essentially of a repeating unit of the formula: It may be used for reducing the roughness of coating layer, improving the appearance of a coating layer, reducing pin holes in a coating layer, improving wearability of a coating layer to an underlying surface. Layer A may include a second polymeric material selected from fluororesin such as perfluoroalkoxy tetrafluoroethylene (PFA), polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) or tetrafluoroethylene-hexafluoropropylene (FEP) or polyether resin such as polyetherketone or polyethersulfone. Layer A may be overcoated with a layer B which may comprise fluororesin.
