PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a signal processing apparatus capable of compensating nonlinear distortion of an equalization waveform. SOLUTION: A filter unit 46 uses a partial response obtained from a discrimination value of a Viterbi detector 43 to obtain nonlinear distortion included in a received reproduction signal and provides it to an adder unit 42. The adder unit 42 subtracts an output of the filter unit 46 from the received reproduction signal to eliminate inter-code interference and nonlinear distortion included in the reproduction signal from the reproduction signal and provides the result to the Viterbi detector 43. The Viterbi detector 43 detects and discriminates a binary value from the reproduction signal from which the inter-code interference and nonlinear distortion are eliminated and supplies the discrimination value to a partial response processing section 45, which converts the value into the partial response.
