PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve performance of a whole device by setting optimum read-write offset quantity under use environment in accordance with variation of environment temperature at the time of use in a magnetic disk device using a head utilizing magneto-resistance effect. SOLUTION: This device has a temperature detecting means 13 detecting temperature variation of the magnetic disk device, read-write offset quantity is measured by an offset measuring means in accordance with variation of detection temperature of the temperature detecting means 13, and read-write offset quantity between a read head used for compensation and the write-head is changed depending on the offset value.
