PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform smooth file exchange negotiation even when a plurality of necessary data files exist. SOLUTION: In a file exchange method, necessary information is retrieved (S003), and when a retrieved counterpart has the necessary information, a necessary file constituting the necessary information is acquired from the counterpart (S009), the information of a file required for the counterpart is acquired from the counterpart, the information of the file owned by oneself and required for the counterpart is presented (S011), whether mutually necessary files owned by each other are to be exchanged or not is decided (S012), and file exchange processing is performed (S013) when a contract of file exchange with the counterpart succeeds.
