PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an outline correcting circuit and an imaging unit that can prevent unnatural outline correction when the outline of complicated video is corrected. SOLUTION: Adders 108 and 109 add edge signals Yh, Yu, and Yd that a horizontal band-pass filter 102, a vertical band-pass filter 103, and an oblique band-pass filter 104 output to generate an edge signal Ymix. A maximum value detecting circuit 110 detects maximum values by pixels of the edge signals Yh, Yv, and Yd to generate a maximum value signal Ymax. A minimum value detecting circuit 111 detects minimum values by the pixels of the edge signals Yh, Yv, and Yd to generate a minimum value signal Ymin. A weighted mean circuit 116 determines a weighting coefficient according to the value of the edge signal Ymin, adds the edge signal Ymin and maximum value signal Ymax or minimum value signal Ymin according to the weighting coefficient, and outputs a correction signal Yenhance.
