<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an obstacle sensing structure for an opening/closing device, which prevents erroneous sensing thereof due to inclination of a path of an obstacle sensing medium, to thereby improve the reliability of obstacle sensing. <P>SOLUTION: The obstacle sensing structure for the opening/closing device is provided for an opening/closing body 10 which is movable at least in a closing direction, and senses an obstacle present on a closing side of the opening/closing body 10. The opening/closing body 10 has a non-contact sensing means 50 arranged on a closing-side edge thereof. The non-contact sensing means 50 has an emitting section 52 and a catching section 53 which protrude from the closing-side edge of the opening/closing body 10 toward the opening/closing body closing direction. The emitting section 52 emits an obstacle sensing medium in a direction that extends almost along the width of the opening/closing body, and the catching section 53 senses the obstacle entering the path of the obstacle sensing medium.
