PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical switch which is operated at a high speed by using an actuator generating a surface acoustic wave and held at a position without power. SOLUTION: In the optical switch having an input side optical fiber 62, at least two output side optical fibers 64A through 64D and an actuator 30 which switches the output direction of an optical signal propagating in the input side optical fiber by moving the end apart of the input side optical fiber, the actuator comprises: a piezoelectric base plate 32 which generates the surface acoustic wave; a pair of comb line electrodes 34 and 36 which are arranged on the surface of the piezoelectric base plate facing to each other and on which electrodes a high frequency voltage generating the surface acoustic wave is applied at an ON/OFF control; moving bodies 38A through 38D holding the end part of the input side optical fiber and so provided to be movable between the pair of comb line electrodes by the surface acoustic wave; and a magnetic suction means 40 which sucks the moving body onto the side of the piezoelectric base plate with predetermined magnetic force.
