PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize power saving, layout easiness, efficient signal transmission and stable black level control. SOLUTION: From a pixel array 1 where imaging pixels 2 are arranged in a row direction and a column direction, pixel signals of respective columns on a selected row are read in parallel in a horizontal blanking period of a horizontal period. The read pixel signals of the respective columns are outputted to horizontal signal lines HL in an effective period of the horizontal period via charge integrating amplifiers 9 provided respectively for columns (vertical signal lines) and are thereby transferred horizontally. In the charge integrating amplifiers 9, it is possible to enter a standby state while holding the pixel signals which are read in the horizontal blanking period, by a holding voltage. Furthermore, in the charge integrating amplifiers 9, a reference potential for precharging feedback capacitors Cs for amplifiers at the time of a reading operation is automatically controlled (6, 7) based on a black level.
