PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the efficiency for treating an organochlorine compound more. SOLUTION: The remover of the organochlorine compound is obtained by mixing (B1) a powder of at least one kind of a metal selected from group 8 elements (except Fe) in the periodic table and/or (B2) a powder carrying the metal on a porous body, with (A) an iron powder having 0.010-3 m<SP>2</SP>/g BET specific surface area. When the remover of the organochlorine compound is constituted of the iron powder (A) and the metal powder (B1), the proportion of the metal powder (B1) is about 0.01-10 pts. by mass based on 100 pts. by mass of the iron powder (A). When the remover of the organochlorine compound is constituted of the iron powder (A) and the metal-carrying powder (B2), the proportion of the metal-carrying powder (B2) is about 0.0001-10 pts. by mass based on 100 pts. by mass of the iron powder (A).
