A cementitious pipe has a tubular wall of fibre-reinforced cementitious pseu do strain hardening (PSH) matrix. The matrix and a wall thickness to diameter ratio within a range are such that the pipe exhibits characteristic behaviou r in diametral quasi-static bending under a 3-edge bearing method. The behavio ur is such that a stress versus relative displacement curve for the pipe exhibi ts a substantially linear elastic region having a first slope within first limits, and from the LOP to the MOR for the pipe, a PSH region which, beyond a possible transition region, has a slope which is less than that of the elast ic region and is within second limits.
