<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drive device for a hybrid car capable of generating a high efficiency driving irrespective of the car speed or the load condition. <P>SOLUTION: The drive device of the hybrid car includes a power dividing mechanism 16 consisting of epicyclic gear mechanisms 14 and 15 of two-set, four-element system in which the ring gear 20 of the second epicyclic gear mechanism 15 is connected with the carrier 17 of the first epicyclic gear mechanism 14 and the carrier 21 of the second epicyclic gear mechanism 14 is connected with the ring gear 19 of the first epicyclic gear mechanism 14, and further is equipped with an engine 1 connected with the ring gear 19 of the power dividing mechanism 16, a first motor generator (MG1) 2 connected with a sun gear 18 of the power dividing mechanism 16, a third motor generator (MG31) 4 connected with a ring gear 20 of the power dividing mechanism 16, an output member 23 connected with a sun gear 22 of the power dividing mechanism 16, a second motor generator (MG2) 3 to adjust the driving force to the output member 23, and a driving force source changeover means to stop MG1 and actuate MG3 based on the operating condition of MG1.
