PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rear lateral side view for a driver in good timing for allowing the driver to change a lane in good time. SOLUTION: The rear lateral side of a vehicle is photographed by a rear lateral side camera 11, and a distance to the preceding vehicle is detected by a preceding vehicle distance determination part 14b. A vehicle speed is detected by a vehicle speed sensor 13, and an acceleration is found. Then, a starting determination part 14 estimates possibility of lane change according to the distance to the preceding vehicle and the acceleration to determine a display starting time of the rear lateral side image. When the display timing is determined, the rear lateral side images on the left and right sides are displayed on an in-vehicle monitor 17. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
