PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a carbapenem derivative which has strong and balanced anti-bacterial activities against wide range pathogenic bacteria. SOLUTION: This compound is represented by formula (I) [R<SP>1</SP>and R<SP>8</SP>are each H or a 1 to 6C alkyl; G<SP>1</SP>is a single bond, a 1 to 6C alkylene, or a 6 to 10C arylene which may be substituted; G<SP>2</SP>is a single bond, oxygen atom, a group represented by the formula: -NH-C(=O)-, a group represented by the formula: -N(R2)-C(=O)-, or carbonyl; G<SP>3</SP>is a 4 to 7-membered heterocyclic group which may be substituted; (n) is 1, 2 or 3; X is sulfur atom or oxygen atom; Alk is a 2 to 10C alkylene which may be substituted; (p), (q), (r) and (s) are each 1, 2 or 3], or its pharmacologically acceptable salt or ester derivative.
