PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate video data whereby a beautiful video image can smoothly be displayed on a display screen by preventing a space from appearing at an outer circumference of the displayed video image. SOLUTION: An effective video area of the video data processed by a video data processing system is smaller than a display screen AS, the surrounding of which is constituted of spaces SBd, SBb without image information. First the system generates extended data ELd, ELb in accordance with image information of video area ends EDd, EDb in the video data, and then generates new video data whereby the area ends EDd, EDb are extended up to circumferential edges FSd, FSb of the display screen AS. Then the system draws reduced video data VDr obtained by reducing the new video data at a prescribed position of the display screen AS. Other reduced video images VDs to VDu whose ends are similarly extended are displayed on the display screen AS without a gap together with the reduced video image VDr. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
