In the isomerization, alkylation, disproportionation or polymerization of hydrocarbons as described in Specification 981,311, i.e. in the presence of a catalyst comprising hexafluoroantimonic acid (HSbF6) or a hydrocarbon derivative thereof (RSbF6) as catalyst, the catalyst is diluted with more than 6 volumes of diluent per volume of catalyst; hydrogen fluoride is the preferred diluent, fluorohydrocarbons may also be used. The diluent may be used in amounts up to 20 volumes per volume.ALSO:Hexafluoroantimonic acid (HSbF6) or a hydrocarbon derivative thereof (RSbF6) can be used as a catalyst, in acid-catalysed reactions, in the presence of a diluent. Specified diluents are hydrogen fluoride and fluorohydrocarbons. |
