The invention relates to a valve (10) which is used to control a fluid, in particular, to control a gas. Said valve (10) comprises a valve housing (13) and an electromagnetic actuating unit (14) for an armature (18) which is guided in an axially displaceable manner in the valve housing (13) by means of at least one guiding surface and which co-operates with a valve seat (20) such that a flow of fluid can be controlled between an inlet side (11) and an outlet side (12) of the valve. According to the invention, the armature comprises at least one compensation surface having a curved cross section in relation to the armature. Said compensation surface is connected to the guiding surface in an axial direction of the armature.
