<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader for realizing an evaluation discrimination function of dust and flaws. <P>SOLUTION: The image reader includes: an image read section for applying photoelectric conversion to a read object to generate image data; a dust/flaw detection section for extracting the defective image of dust/flaw from the image data; and a dust flaw evaluation section for applying an arithmetic operation to the defective image extracted by the dust/flaw detection section to evaluate the degree of occurrence of the dust/flaw; and a correction discrimination section for discriminating the propriety or strength of the defective correction applied to the image data in accordance with the evaluation result of the dust/flaw evaluation section. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
