PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for processing the shaped surface of a press die with high efficiency and high precision, which exactly measures and grasps a casting stock allowance and shortens the processing time. SOLUTION: A method for processing the shaped surface of the press die 1. The casting stock allowance 2 of the press die 1 against a product shape is quantitatively grasped by a non-contact measuring instrument 3 and is converted into point group data 4. The point group data 4 on the measurement of the casting is downloaded into a computer which is made to recognize the casting stock allowance 2. Then the computer is made to compute the difference between the casting stock allowance 2 and the product shape as a tool locus of contour line processing suitable for a high speed cutting machine equipped with a radius mill tool to prepare NC (numerical control) data.
