PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sleeping car for commuters for relieving the harsh commuter traffic condition, capable of enhancing the convenience of users for the sleeping car by equipping its adjacent car with a hotel front function and a doorway. SOLUTION: The sleeping car T2 is coupled in front or in the rear of the train formation of a commuter train which is to be positioned ahead of a platform. As shown in Fig. 3, the doorway 5 and the front 6 proprietary for the sleeping car are provided near the coupling part 8 of an existing car T3 coupled adjacent to the sleeping car T2. Accordingly the passengers using the sleeping car can come in from the doorway 5 positioned at the platform and get into the sleeping car T2 ahead of the platform. This eliminates elongation of the platform, and additional coupling of the sleeping car is possible in the space ahead of the platform which is an unused space. The present commuter train in a large urban area such as Tokyo are in over-tight condition where the rate of passenger getting on is as high as 270%, and a measure for relieving the condition is asked for, and this solution can well serve for the subway etc. having no place for additional installation of a platform.
