Hair relaxer composition comprising tetramethylguanidine

Tetramethylguanidine (I) is used as an agent for straightening keratinic fibers. Independent claims are also included for: (1) cosmetic composition comprising (I) in a medium and at a concentration such that (I) reacts with the cystines of keratinic fibers to form dehydroalanine by beta -elimination resulting in the formation of lanthionine to straighten the fibers in less than 1 hour; (2) kit comprising at least two compartments, one of which contains (I) capable of reacting with the cystines of keratinic fibers to form dehydroalanine by beta -elimination resulting in the formation of lanthionine to straighten the fibers in less than 1 hour; (3) straightening keratinic fibers using a composition as above.
