PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet handling device and an image forming apparatus having it, improving the loading performance for sheets in simple constitution. SOLUTION: A sheet bundle discharging means 413 adapted to hold a bundle SA of handled sheets on a first sheet loading means 410 and simultaneously move in the direction of a second sheet loading means 421 to discharge the bundle SA of sheets to the second sheet loading means 421 is moved to the position for discharging the bundle SA of sheets, and then holding for the bundle SA of sheets is released. A butt member moving means 437 projects a sheet trailing end butt member 435 on the upstream side of the sheet bundle discharging means 413 after the sheet bundle discharge means 413 is moved to the position for discharging the sheet bundle SA to butt on the trailing end of the sheet bundle SA released from holding of the sheet bundle discharge means 413 when the sheet bundle discharge means 413 returns to the position before moving.
