HEAD CLEANING DEVICE FOR INKJET PRINTER AND PRINTER HAVING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording head cleaning device that can clean a portion in the vicinity of a nozzle hole by using a cleaning liquid without causing entering of the cleaning liquid or a bubble from the nozzle hole thereby enhancing reliability of the recording and does not cause lowering of the recording speed of the printer due to the cleaning operation of a wiping member. SOLUTION: A cleaning liquid ejection opening section capable of supplying a cleaning liquid is provided to a portion surrounding a suction hole disposed opposite to the nozzle hole. By sucking from the suction hole, the cleaning liquid is drawn from a cleaning liquid supply hole and the drawn cleaning liquid is contacted with the portion in the vicinity of the nozzle hole, and then the contacted cleaning liquid is sucked from the suction hole to be collected. The suction hole member is formed of a porous resin and the cleaning liquid supply opening section is of an air hole section formed on the surface of the porous resin. The cleaning liquid supplied to the porous resin is drawn from the air hole section, and then the portion in the vicinity of the nozzle hole is cleaned and the suction hole as the wiping member is cleaned at the same time.
