PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of producing an automobile body which is capable of securely improving the corrosion resistance of an automobile body only by adding a simple method to the conventional automobile production line and in which an inexpensive galvanized steel sheet can be used, and to provide an automobile body produced by the method. SOLUTION: An automobile body 10 assembled with a galvanized steel sheet 12 is subjected to Bonderizing treatment to form a phosphate film 14 on the surface thereof, and thereafter a magnesium compound is applied thereto to form a magnesium film 16 on the surface of the phosphate film 14. Thus, the phosphate film 14 is formed even on the punched edge faces, bent parts, weld parts or the like in a steel sheet component composing the automobile body 10, and also, a magnesium compound is securely interposed between the phosphate film 14 and an undercoating film 18. In this way, water passing through the undercoating film 18 inevitably reacts with magnesium, and the phenomenon that zinc in the phosphate film 14 or the galvanized steel sheet 12 is oxidized so as to form white rust can remarkably be retarded.
