<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator device preventing a power storage device 31 composed of a secondary battery from over discharging by operation during power failure. <P>SOLUTION: The elevator device converts an alternating current of a commercial power source 10 to a direct current by a converter 12, and further converts that to an alternating current of a variable voltage variable frequency by an inverter 14 to hoist/lower a car 3. The elevator device comprises a power failure restoration detector 41 stopping the car 3 when the voltage of a power source energizing a controlling device 21 is decreased to be not more than a first predetermined value VL; and the power storage device 31 connected to a direct current bus 13 between the converter 12 and the inverter 14 to transfer electric power. When the voltage of the commercial power source 10 is decreased to be not more than a second predetermined value VH that is not more than a value at a normal condition and not less than the first predetermined value VL, the controlling device 21 and the power failure restoration detector 41 are energized by electric power from the power storage device 31 to continue operation.
