<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus in which opening and closing of a cover is added to the condition for release of an abnormal state to thereby prompt a user to check a remaining sheet inside the apparatus, and consequently such a failure is evaded that a transfer sheet not detected by a sheet sensor becomes the remaining sheet. <P>SOLUTION: When power is supplied again after detection of the abnormal state, whether the cover is opened or closed is checked (S10). When the cover is not already opened or closed (S10;N), sheet jamming display is performed until the cover is opened or closed (S13). When the cover is already opened or closed (S10;Y), whether the transfer sheet is detected by the sheet sensor or not is checked (S11). When the transfer sheet is detected (S11;Y), sheet jamming display is performed until the transfer sheet is not detected any more (S14). When the transfer sheet is not detected (S11;N) a return operation is performed(S12). By performing the display of sheet jamming in S13, regardless of whether the transfer sheet is detected or not, the user is prompted to check the remaining sheet inside the apparatus and the failure due to the remaining sheet can be prevented. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
