PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sealing structure for preventing a packing 20 from being caught and damaged in a clearance between a sliding hole 102 in a housing 101 and a reciprocating member 103 such as a plunger axially reciprocating on the inner periphery thereof even in a using condition where a packing 20 is apt to have a shortage in lubrication. SOLUTION: The packing 20 mounted to a mounting groove 10 formed in the inner surface of the housing 101 in a sealing state is tightly contacted with the outer peripheral surface of the reciprocating member 103. The end on the following displacing side of the packing 20 following the axial movement of the reciprocating member 103, of both axial ends of the mounting groove 10, is provided with a stopper section 14 for limiting the following displacement of the packing 20 on the groove bottom 13 side and an escape groove 15 for enlarging the groove width more greatly than the following displacing amount of the packing 20 on the groove shoulder 12 side.
