PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the visibility of a pedestrian by solving the problem that a conventional light emitting structure of an umbrella makes the umbrella visible only hazily and hardly draws attention to the pedestrian himself or herself because only a small part of the umbrella is made to emit light by a dot-like or linear light source and the problem that the foot ground is not illuminated by the conventional structure. SOLUTION: The umbrella has a shank 1, ribs 4 which are attached to the upper part of the shank 1 radially and in an openable/closable manner, a canopy 8 which is supported by the ribs 4 and a handle 10 which is provided at the lower part of the shank 1. The umbrella is provided with an upper lighting means 9 which emits light downward in a position near the overhead location when the ribs 4 and the canopy 8 are unfolded and a lower lighting means 11 on the handle 10 for illuminating the foot ground.
