PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a packer capable of measuring the diameter of a rolled film when automatically starting use without requiring a user to plan the diameter of the film. SOLUTION: The fourth driving motor 40 is cooperated with the rolled film 15, the film is rotated in the predetermined direction, and a belt-like film 16 is sent out, and it is made to lead to a bag making machine 18. A rotation angle measuring device 51 for measuring the rotation angle of the film is attached on the rotary shaft of the film, and a movement distance measuring device 53 is provided in the middle of the pulling out of the belt-like film. The fourth driving motor is rotated for fixed time, the rotation angle and the movement distance at that time are measured with each measuring device, and sent to a processing unit, and the diameter of the film is asked for in there. In addition, the diameter for which has been asked is sent to a speed controlling device 38, and utilized for the initial set-up of a rotating speed when starting of the fourth driving motor.
