The invention relates to a device for burning solid matter, especially for producing quicklime, dolomite lime or cement, said device comprising a rotary kiln (1) in which the combustion product (2) transported longways through the kiln (1) is burned by means of a combustion unit (1b), a cooling section (4) which is arranged downstream of the kiln (1) and in which a rising cooling air stream (4b, 4b*) is produced by means of at least one cooling fan in order to cool the burned combustion product (2*) transported along the bottom (4a) of the cooling section (4), the bottom (4a) of the cooling section (4) comprising openings for the cooling air stream (4b, 4b*), and a kiln hood (3) comprising a flume (3a) and connecting the outlet (1a) of the rotary kiln (1) to the cooling section (4). According to the invention, the cooling air stream (4d) flowing through the burnt combustion product (2*) - that leaves the kiln (1), passes through the flume (3a), and is deposited on the bottom (4a) of the cooling section (4) - rises into the kiln (1), via the flume (3a), and feeds the flame (1c) of the combustion unit (1b) as secondary air. The inventive device is characterised in that the flume (3a) contains means for separating the rising cooling air stream (4d) from the burnt combustion product (2*) that leaves the kiln (1) and is deposited on the bottom (4a) of the cooling section (4). |
