Device for machining light-metal wheel rims, especially a precision tool for gripping a rim blank (12) for finishing, comprises an axial centering ring (18) with recesses uniformly distributed along its periphery for gripping radially arranged parts of a light-metal wheel rim blank. The axial centering ring rests on the rear peripheral outer edge of the blank. External protrusions (22) uniformly distributed along the edge of the axial centering ring engage with corresponding recesses (24) in the rear outer edge of the blank. An independent claim is also included for an alternative device in which external recesses uniformly distributed along the edge of the axial centering ring engage with corresponding protrusions in the rear outer edge of the blank.
