An air filter system, for cleaning the air output from a machine or process stage, has a free standing unit (1) with an air collecting chamber (3) between upper mounted filters (2) and a hopper (9) and container (5) to collect the dust. Air is fed into the collecting chamber via a duct (6) which is connected to the machine.
