A control device (5) is designed for connecting to a audio/video input of a TV set or monitor (1) and for each requisitioned function a pictogram is held in an image store (3) and a clocking device places the pictograms cyclically at the output for transmitting to the TV set or monitor (1). The remote control (2) has a channel with only one control switch for output of a signal at reception of the pictogram function at the TV set or monitor (1), and with simultaneous reception of a remote control signal a switching function is carried out.
