The monorail (1) has a drive arrangement (2) with a single drive wheel (2.1) with a plastics tire (2.3) pressing against one side of a running rail (4). The wheel bearing (2.2) is held on a frame member (3) with a crossbeam (3.1) on the other side of the rail. Pivots (5.1) on the crossbeam hold struts (5a,5b) with bearings (2.4,2.4') for counterpressure wheels (2a,2b). The load (G) is hung from a pivot (6) at the end of the frame, just beyond the crossbeam. The running rail typically has an H-shaped cross- section.
