<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrode plate for an alkaline storage battery which secures a high capacity and small surface roughening causing an internal short circuit in the battery, its manufacturing method, and an alkaline storage battery. <P>SOLUTION: One edge of an electrode plate precursor 1110 is irradiated with a laser beam LB<SB>1</SB>while scanning an irradiation point P<SB>L1</SB>. As shown in the enlarged part, a connection area 111a formed in this way comprises a three-layer structure composed of a substrate layer 111b, a packed layer 111c, and an active material layer 111d from the upper part of the figure.
