The present invention relates to an arrangement for transferring elongated pieces of timber T, which are conveyed in succession perpendicular to their longitudinal direction in a first feed direction F1 on the first conveyor, to a second conveyor 2, which in a transverse direction is situated at a distance from the first conveyor and on which the pieces of timber are conveyed in a second feed direction F2, which arrangement comprises a chain conveyor 3, which extends between the first and second conveyors and has curved sections B, D. According to the invention the chain conveyor 3 terminates at its ends in straight sections A, E, which are parallel with one another and which connect the curved sections B, D of the chain conveyor 3, the chains 4 forming part of the chain conveyor comprise drivers 7, arranged equidistant from one another on each chain, so that a series of parallel rows of drivers is formed, which rows are at right angles to the feed directions F1, F2 in the terminating straight sections of the chain conveyor, and in each of the curved sections B, D the chains forming part of the chain conveyor all have the same radius of curvature. <IMAGE> |
