The fuel injection valve (1), especially for the direct injecting of fuel into the combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine, has a valve needle (4) installed in a nozzle body (3), operated by an actuator (7) and loaded by a return spring (9). A shut-off component (5) is kept in sealed contact with a valve seat (6) in the inactivated state of the actuator. The nozzle body and/or the shut-off component are designed so that a mixture cloud injected into the combustion chamber is formed asymmetrically with at least one jet gap.
