DIIMONIUM SALT COMPOUND AND USE THEREOF

A near-infrared absorbing compound that does not contain antimony and arsenic, excelling in stability, especially heat resistance, light stability and resistance to hot moisture; and, produced with the use of the near-infrared absorbing compound and excelling in resistances, an infrared absorption filter, optical storage medium and resin composition. There is provided a diimonium salt compound characterized by having the structure of the formula: (1) (wherein each of R1 to R8 is independently a hydrogen atom or a substituted or unsubstituted aliphatic hydrocarbon group and each of R9 and R10 is independently a halogenated or nonhalogenated aliphatic hydrocarbon group, provided that the ring A and ring B may further have substituents), and provided a composition characterized by containing the diimonium salt.
