This invention relates to a method of enhancer trapping in an organism, comprising introducing a retroviral vector into said organism, wherein said vector comprises a basal promoter and a detectably expressible gene. Retroviral vectors, transgenic organisms obtainable by introducing a retroviral vector into said organism and kits comprising the retroviral vectors or transgenic organisms are also included in the invention.
