<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information storage device for enabling the exclusion of a nonvolatile storage element wherein a service life expires from a system to secure security performance of the system, and to provide an information processing system using the information storage device as a storage device constituting the system. <P>SOLUTION: This information storage device has a means for inputting and outputting information from an external device having a data processing function, and the nonvolatile memory element wherein a use service life remains. The information storage device decides the service life of the nonvolatile memory element by comparison of a count result obtained by counting the number of update times updated according to processing operation of the information storage device, stored in the nonvolatile memory element, and a preset service life prediction value, and does not perform the processing operation of the information storage device itself by returning rejection notification to a processing request from the external device when a result of the decision reaches the service life prediction value. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
