<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive master cylinder capable of suppressing generation of abnormal sound due to a stick slip phenomenon. <P>SOLUTION: This cylinder has a resin cylinder main body 2 formed with a difference in level part 2c at the boundary of a cylinder hole 2a and a mounting hole 2b, a piston 3 with a hydraulic chamber 14 formed between the piston 3 and an inner peripheral surface of the cylinder hole 2a, a guide sleeve 8 guiding a base end part of the piston 3 and locked on the cylinder main body 2 by a locking means 9, a first annular sealing means 10 which is a double annular sealing member held on an outer peripheral surface at a distal end part of the piston 3 and having a soft inner peripheral ring seal 10a and a hard outer peripheral ring seal 10b, and a second annular sealing member 17 held between the difference in level part 2c and a distal end part 8b of the guide sleeve 8.
