PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection optical unit in a projector capable of projecting a high-quality image without being influenced by the individual difference of a display element and the change of an environmental condition. SOLUTION: The projection optical unit in the projector projecting light modulated by the display element on a screen through a projection lens group is provided with a housing being a base, base plate structure where the display element is integrally formed and which is attached to the housing, the projection lens group attached to the housing so that its optical axis may be nearly parallel with the reference surface of the housing, and a 1st attaching means for attaching the base plate structure to the housing while adjusting the inclination of the base plate structure to the housing so that the pixel surface of the display element may be nearly perpendicular to the reference surface.
