<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a door handle device for a vehicle, with a flap-type operating handle, which has a sensor unit excellent in mountability and watertightness arranged therein in the vicinity of the flap-type operating handle. <P>SOLUTION: According to the door handle device, the sensor unit 30 is formed like a flat plate, and has a unitized structure including a sensor section for generating electrical change depending on presence/absence of the finger tips inserted in a pocket section 25, and a circuit section for detecting the presence/absence of the finger tips inserted in the pocket section 25, based on the electrical change of the sensor section.
